Pastoral

Pastoral ministry in the parishes of the Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum, restructured in 2016 under the Kerala Region Latin Catholic Councils (KRLCC) framework, encompasses duties such as animating faith formation through the nine commissions—including Bible, liturgy, catechetics, proclamation, and interreligious dialogue—to strengthen prayer, belief, and communal life, while coordinating parish-level Basic Christian Communities (BCCs) for leadership training, sacramental preparation, and ecumenical collaboration. Parish priests, supported by lay executives and forane committees, execute these responsibilities via regular meetings, resource team formations, and skill-building programs. The rationale for this ministry, animated by Jesus’ evangelizing mission and Vatican II’s call for lay participation (as per Canon Law), envisions faith-filled parishes that foster human solidarity through Gospel proclamation and dialogue with other religions, ultimately instilling deeper awareness of Catholic theology, sacraments, and social justice in a pluralistic Kerala context to empower laity against socio-political challenges and promote integral community renewal.
