Parish Council: A Pastoral Committee
The Parish Council plays a vital role in both the pastoral mission and communal life of the parish. Made up of elected and nominated members representing various BCC units and service committees, it ensures the participation of the laity, religious, and clergy. A key feature is ensuring 30% women’s representation, and new members are inducted every two years to keep the council dynamic and inclusive.
Though referred to as an advisory body, the council actively makes decisions and takes responsibility for parish initiatives. Members are expected to maintain constant contact with their respective BCC units and committees, ensuring coordination and participation.
The Parish Council members serve voluntarily, offering their time and talents as part of their Christian calling, balancing family and professional responsibilities for the common good. The council’s growth is an ongoing process, built on the contributions of past councils.
As a pastoral committee, the council follows the model of Christ the Good Shepherd—one who seeks the lost, cares for the weak, and leads with compassion and integrity (cf. Ezekiel 34:1-10, John 10:1-15). Council members are called not to authority, but to humble service, echoing Christ’s example at the Last Supper (John 13:1-16). Their mission is to nurture life in abundance within the parish and community.
